Congrats to Stefan and Kimberly who were married on August 13th, 2010. Here is the happy couple post wedding outside her parents house. A perfect match and we wish you many happy years together!

Apparently the hooligans are all the Lindsay side and I'm glad to say that Craig and Wendy have truly come to the goofy side

It's 100's out now and we are getting settled into our 2 bedroom apartment in the fun local of NW Portland. We've had fun and are getting back into the routine of life. We've been warmly welcomed here and looking forward to more fun in town.

We haven't totally been house bound unpacking..enjoyed a timbers game against a premier team from the Uk...they won in a shootout, but it was a very fun game to watch.

Montana

We went to Anaconda, Montana for a family reunion from both sides. Craig's family from both sides orginate in Anaconda. The history in this town is fascinating when your hear it first person.

We started out the trip with blue flame. A wonderful family gathering around the fire:)

His family threw us a reception and we had a great time. I was able to meet a ton of his family and Craig was able to catch up with them. We had a blast. Thanks so much for your hard work and kindness.

Grandma S taught at this one room school house which was surprisingly still standing. The owners had fixed it up and came out to show us the inside and pictures of the renovations. A really neat piece of history.

The smokestack over on the left is where many a family member had worked. The work was grueling...Craig's dad worked there one summer and decided college was a good idea. Smarts run in this family:)

After our weddding and few days on Whidbey, we headed up to Alaska to visit friends and see where Craig had spent the majority of his adult years. Thanks to Tim and Monica for hosting a surprise reception and for all the well wishes. We totally enjoyed our trip.

Hiking Mount St Helens...it was cold, raining, misty, but fun. Mike, Andrea, Craig and I attempted to climb this mountain, we made it a fair piece up the mountain before deciding that sliding down was infinitely more fun:)

Mike went a bit further than us..this is him coming down to meet us. Way to go Mike!

For all of you who don't know this..Sarah is conquering Portland....

Hiking near the coast of Portland. It was a beautiful day with clear skys. We heard there were great views, but they weren't great...they were phenomenal. We saw Ranier, St Helens, Mout Adams and Mount Hood all in row and on the flip side was the ocean..not to mention all the beautiful flowers along the way..a great hike!

Spent a few days with Mark- Craig's brother and then toured the coasts of CA as we went up to LA to visit family.

Craig's family in LA. We had a wonderful time staying with them.

Aunt and Uncle and cousins..had a blast hanging out and catching up wtih everyone.

Rodeo Drive...actually has real chandeliers for lighting..we didn't see them lit up, but I was impressed.

Trying to catch up on the last few months- Let's see....a trip to Tahoe and Deception pass with Craig, conventions, Back to Minnesota for more Molly time and Shannon's wedding, Tiana's birthday...Happy birthday Tiana. Molly Piper arrived on July 16th sometime around 10:00am:) 7lbs 12.5oz and 19 inches long. She's very vocal and has gobs of jet black hair. The movie is about an hour after birth. And yes- I think both parents are Ga-Ga over her.

The start of the day at the Space needle - I have to admit it was pretty cool to see the views of the city and check out some of the interactive computer stuff (technical term) they had:)

Here we are in sculpture park..the discussion was revolving around whether or not the big black thing could really be called "art"

Seattle Library

Yesterday I ventured dowtown and visited the "new" library to see if it met up to the high reviews it has acquired. I was impressed by the layout, seattle design, and forward thinking of the library. Mostly I was impressed that the huge volume of information didn't seem intimidating because of the layout and design. Anyway- definitely worthwhile.
Thought for that day....You never know how loudly you walk or how much noise your clothes make until you try and walk quietly through a library.

San Francisco

Kateen and I journeyed to San Francisco to see some of the sights and check out the city. Really fun, energetic city is my first impression. We had great weather, good transportation karma, and met really fun people. Definetely a worthwhile trip.

Pier 39 - the sea lions are huge!

Moonlight Kayaking- probably one of the best excursions we took. Kayaking out to Bay Bridge, eating dinner on the waves under the full harvest looking moon with the skyline of San Fran and lit up bay bridge nearby. Very Very fun.

We biked across Golden Gate to a little picturesque town that starts with an "S" has sauce in it somewhere and ends in "ito".

In said town- enjoying the warmth, sun, water, boats, views...and gelato!

Vampire tour- can't say what was more entertaining... listening to some of the history of the rich patrons of the city or walking into one of the most prestigious hotels with a women dressed like this.

We had three beautiful clear sunny warm days in San Francisco and on Monday- the fog rolled in to show us San Francisco's true colors. The fog kept shifting creating new and more interesting photos- it was a really fun trip.

Rant on the GRE

So I took the GRE. After I finish this three hour test where I know a minimal amount of the vocab words and all the math problems are just tricky (feeling really strong about how I did)- a notice comes up and says that I have a choice. This message tells me that my scores will be published and will be on my permanent record once I view them, so I have the option of not viewing my scores and canceling the test right then or I can go ahead view my scores and they will be published. Now at this point- I am exhausted and am tired and feel like I did horrible, but know that this is a scam. People can retake and retake the GRE and if you take it again and improve- it can only mean you are dedicated. So what is the risk, but part of you wants to cancel. So I of course - I hit publish to view my score. This message flashes up again with WARNING! and displays the same message. So again I click on - publish score...and it came up again. Third time after choosing publish scores- it published them. I am so mad. If you had any test anxiety on all you'd cancel, beat yourself up later because you really don't know how you did and have to pay some 200 dollars again to take it. I rarely get upset, but pretty annoyed over this one. Thankfully, most people will recognize this ploy for what it is, but still- annoying of the test makers.

Bird Refuge Area on Kauai-The birds have chosen a very nice spot. It was amazingly calm for the winter months. Usually the waves are pounding on the cliffs per locals. Kauai was amazing. I reccommend that island to anyone traveling to Hawaii.

News Flash: When Ski signs say dangerous terrain ahead-it's accurate

I realize this is late- but the story is good...So the story starts on a beautiful powdery dry snowy day where Justin and I had just finished lunch on a logdge near the top of the bowl on Crystal Mountain. Feeling refreshed and ready to tackle new terrain, I looked up and decided I could take what looked like the easier side of the mountain (not the bowl part). So Justin and I head to the lift to go up to the top of the mountain. Justin does read the sign that says (Terrain and skiing unlike anything you have skiied before- dangerous) as we sit down on the lift and are swept upwards towards said terrain. Getting off the lift- I realize, "Yup" definetely out of my league...but Justin- bravely leads the way and I willingly follow since the only way out is down and following Justin was definetely the safest route. A while later after passing by numerous cliffs with large trees- Justin sees an opening...I look ahead and see an easier path beyond some trees. I tell Justin to go ahead and I'm going to head to the open area because it's easier- Right? :)
I never made it...my path took me to the edge of a cliff like slope mostly covered with rocks,a drifting of snow and bushes poking out all over..Justin wisely unsure if I was going to make it followed me and also ended up at the beginning of said cliff. I decide that I could either take off my skiis and walk up or down past the trees and justin also at the same time comes to the same conclusion. So we take off our skis- I sit down and said out loud- maybe I could slide down...now I didn't mean to the bottom of the cliff..but famous last words. I slide a bit and then way way out of control. My thoughts came in pieces and kinda panicky ---"Sliding" "Rocks" "This could be bad" "Now I'm sumersaulting" "Not good", "Ouch- rock" "Still tumbling" "Bushes" Oh, good snow" "Still not stopping" Still not stopping" "Still not Stopping" I finally stop and look up. I'm at the bottom of the cliff- thankfully still able to walk and Justin is halfway down the cliff as well.- He also slid- but totally by accident. He skillfully and scarely braved the cliff to get both of our skis- pretty much the hero for the day and went on to conquer the bowl- both impressive feats..I limped back to base and enjoyed a hot cup of hot chocolate while sitting outside in the snow. So it ended well for both of us. So moral for the day: If unsure- trust the signs:)

We initially headed out to Realto Beach and then realized that with the clear day- Hurricane Ridge would look beautiful. So to quote Sarah "I love the northwest...you can head out to the beach and end up in the mountains". Hopefully she was referring to the amazing geography of the northwest and not my ability to get lost.

Satish, a fellow friend, recently moved here from Michigan. He is an accomplished pilot and on Sunday, we went flying. Picture of Mt Baker admist the clouds.

I was actually flying the plane for this picture and very briefly looked up for the picture. I think we were both a little terrified of my flying.

A Late Excerpt from the Texas Trip:

Late one night in texas, Tiana and I were driving home to Gina's by following Gina's car. It was dark and extremely rainy, which made viewing things on the road difficult. At one point a flying object came at the car and we heard a thump as it hit the grill. I assumed it was a rock and was simply glad that it didn't hit the window. The next morning, however, we discoverd that this poor frog had head first jumped into our grill.

In the event that no one was hurt- I'm amused. This occured this week in Washington to some of the friends visiting from michigan. Talk about unexpected!

Charles and Linda Everson were driving back to their hotel when their minivan was struck by a falling object -- a 600-pound cow. The Eversons were unhurt but the cow, which had fallen off a cliff, had to be euthanized. The year-old cow fell about 200 feet from the cliff and landed on the hood of the couple's minivan, causing heavy damage. A Chelan County fire chief, Arnold Baker, said the couple missed being killed by a matter of inches in the accident Sunday on a highway near Manson. The Eversons, visiting the area from their home in Westland, Mich., to celebrate their first wedding anniversary, were checked at Lake Chelan Community Hospital as a precaution. Everson, 49, said he didn't see the cow falling and didn't know what happened until afterward. He said he kept repeating: "I don't believe this. I don't believe this."

Tiana and I toured the Brazo's park where wildlife is abundant. It is an "enter at your own risk" park because you causually walk around the park where large alligators are within a few feet of you. It was beautiful and we did see our fair share of the large reptiles.
